The short answer? Because.
The real answer?
Because I didn't know what it would be as it grew up.
I did know that I wanted it to be more than just me. The fun thing is that it can be ANYTHING! A shining, collaborative community of creatives (say that 3 times fast) or a fun pop-up class to inspire the imagination of those who don't have access to Art in school... ANYTHING!
So I had to pick a name, that could grow into anything. How hard is picking a name? Hard.
My son, Riley suggested daydream. I mulled it over.
Wikipedia says a daydream is "a short-term detachment from one's immediate surroundings, (that sounds nice), during which a person's contact with reality is blurred (in a good, only slightly crazy way), and partially substituted by a visionary fantasy, especially one of happy, pleasant thoughts, hopes or ambitions, imagined as coming to pass.
-erie as a French suffix: Denotes a shop selling a certain product.
Daydream-erie: A space for indulging in happy reverie.
Happy pleasant thoughts? Hopes imagined as coming to pass? Art that supports a momentary visual vacation?
I guess that wasn't really so hard : )
